Anisah and Yusuf will eat ice cream whatever the weather! This homemade ice cream is lovely on its own or with another dessert, such as apple pie or chocolate cake.
Anisah’s favourite flavour is Cookies & Cream, and Yusuf prefers Strawberry. What’s your favourite flavour?
You Will Need:
2 cups whipping cream
2 cups double cream
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Optional Extras:
If you would like to make the ice cream more exciting, try mixing in different flavours, such as:
Chunks of your favourite chocolate bars
Fudge pieces
Honeycomb pieces
Chopped up strawberries
Crushed cookies
Chocolate or toffee sauce
Flavourings, such as mint or lemon
YOU WILL ALSO NEED:
Large mixing bowl
Mixing spoon
A freezer-proof dish, approximately 12 x 10inches
Hand mixer or whisk
how to make homemade ice cream
Step 1: Prepare Your Dishes
Freeze the baking dish for at least 30 minutes.
Step 2: Mix it Up
In a large bowl, stir together all the ingredients until the sugar has dissolved.
Add in your optional extras!
Step 3: Freeze
Remove the baking dish from the freezer, and pour in the mixture, then put it back in the freezer for around 30 minutes.
Now, take the dish back out of the freezer, and carefully beat with a hand mixer or a whisk. This will help make to make your ice cream smooth and creamy. The more you mix, the smoother your ice cream will be!
Step 4: Back to the Freezer
Return the dish to the freezer.
After 30 minutes, take it back out of the freezer and beat the ice cream again.
Repeat this step 3 more times.
The mixture should be smooth and creamy, but if the ice cream becomes too hard, put it in the fridge until it softens a little, and then repeat the 'beat and freeze' steps!
Store the ice cream in containers until you need it!
